Woodjoy® spokeshaves come with the easy top blade adjustment system for fixed sole, low angle spokeshaves, a standard for over 15 years on my shaves. It is a method based upon a set screw adjustment installed on an antique spokeshave discovered in a gunsmith's shop. A similar adjustment was also used in the 1980's on the Conover shave. This is the best way for tuning the blade height, a staple for most low angle spokeshaves today.
I am proud to introduce a new innovative feature that works in conjunction with the standard top set screw element allowing blade movement for back and forth adjustment of the blade. By adding a minimum amount of components the intuitive adjustment method makes opening and closing the mouth of the shave a snap. This element is a superior benefit for fine tuning a spokeshave, an attribute only found previously on spokeshaves with an adjustable sole like the Woodjoy® model #85. The new idea has a clear cut advantage, because the sole stays fixed, only the blade moves when tuning is required. The blade is locked into place just like the opposing forces on the top adjustment, the same principle is applied to the in and out blade orientation, leaving only one moving part, a long term benefit for blade wear compensation and performance tuning.
The new series spokeshave comes with all the quality parts found in Woodjoy® spokeshaves. It is appointed with the three inch heavy blade mounted in a sturdy Brazilian cherry body milled with a pocket for superior shavings ejection allowing for thumb placement near the back of the blade. The wood body is lighter in size and weight than the PSS-3H style giving the new shave the advantage of a stout blade with the finess of more compact body.
